We are praying for Haiti

We are praying!

We are praying for Haiti and extending our hand with help as well. We are keeping  this country, it's people, and it's missionaries, rescue teams in our prayers.
If you would like to give you may direct your giving through Compassion Services International today or we will also be receiving an offering for Haiti on Feb. 7th.
The need is great.

Arise! Shine!

I’m sure you’ve heard by now the comments of a certain well-known televangelist who declared that the 7.0 earthquake that has devestated Haiti this past Tuesday was the judgment of God because that island made a pact with the devil. Of course, with thousands dead and millions left homeless, that remark has sparked an uproar of protest, both in the secular world and in the Church.

I have two things to say: 1). When people are bleeding, crying in pain and grief, and lying dead in the middle of streets; and when helpers are scrambling to save lives and get emergency care to individuals, that is not the time to stand in a comfortable, removed place and talk about divine punishment! In this, Haiti’s desperate hour, the message and the work that will speak volumes of the light of Jesus Christ is charity and compassion.

2). Divine judgment is, indeed, a reality; but if ever disaster comes in that capacity, God’s habit is to warn people before He punishes them, when they are content and think they do not need God. An after-the-fact rebuke smells of human sanctimony, not divine justice. Yes, Haitians have had a terrible past of voodoo and witchcraft, but I personally have heard of no one whom the Lord spoke through forwarning Haiti. I can tell you this, if an individual was used prophetically prior to this horrific event (and I believe in the gift of prophecy), that individual would right now be doing all he or she could to lend a helping hand to the poor Haitians. Why? Because a true prophet grieves over sorrow as well as over sin.

Fellow believers, neither saint nor sinner in Haiti needs your pointed finger right now; they do, however, need your outstretched hand.

Update Jan 30

We are so thankful for the overwhelming response we have received from all across North American and the world. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! So many have donated supplies and finances while many others are willing to go and lend a helping hand. The response has honestly overwhelmed us, but that is a good problem! We are getting a handle on things and hope to soon have a streamlined system of processing applications for teams going into Haiti.

Our medical relief team is now on location in Haiti and will be there for the next few days doing clinics and assessing conditions for further medical tours. Some have asked if we needed clothing donations. At this time we do not need any clothing donated to the relief effort in Haiti, but we certainly appreciate the efforts of those who have gathered clothing. Perhaps these could be given to a local charity?

We are still in need of the medical supplies and personal care kits. Right now we have enough supplies for at least two 40’ containers and the first one will go out next week.

I have been moved lately because of the thousands of earthquake orphans now in Haiti. The future of these children was already bleak and now has taken a dramatic turn for the worst. Please, pray the Lord’s protection on these children.

Blessings,
